Okay, I'm just going to vent because one day I'll forget all the series of "unfortunate events" that can happen so quickly.
Yesterday Sarah came home from school with a stomach ache. She went to bed in our room. At around 9:30 she came out and said she threw up. Me, being the awesome mother, just assumed she made it to the toilet and didn't go check...I was too busy watching The Bachelor. :) Then, after it was over, I go in to find a huge puddle on my new comforter, more vomit all over the rug and on top of my wicker laundry basket. It dripped into my dirty clothes...the whites. So, I begin the clean up. While I'm scrubbing the carpet, the smell overwhelms me and I start dry heaving. I'm just lucky nothing came out, although I think it made me pee my pants a little :).
I took the comforter to the tub first to wash out the puddle and then to the washer...but oh no...it's dry clean only! The tub is now plugged with chunks and I'm trying to unscrew the daggone thing to unclog it. Again, the smell overwhelms me. I take a breather. I disassemble the wicker and spray it to death with disinfectant. I start the laundry...and wash my hands like 20 times.
Then today, Josh is at preschool and Sean and I just sit down to lunch, get our chips and salsa and drinks, and order and then the phone call that Josh has thrown up at school. He was so fine this morning...but I should've figured he'd get sick. So I up and leave, without eating, to go get Josh. On the way home, he throws up again, in his car seat. The smell now permeats the van. Oh now, quick roll down the windows. Thank goodness it's a warm day. He is alseep by the time we get home. I undress him, clean it all up, and pray no one else tosses their cookies.
Sean also reported that Annabelle dumped the whole new bowl of chips after I left the restaurant and managed to get her bottle to leak all over his suit...and he didn't notice until he felt his undershirt wet.
SO, the stains are now out, the comforter at the cleaners, the kids asleep, and the smell gone. I lit 2 candles tonight just to ensure I wouldn't encounter that smell again. :)
I know I'm so not alone in this stage, and this always seems to happen to me. I guess I just wanted to vent. Thanks for letting me vent. :)
PS I'll spare any gross pictures to document this ordeal. :)
