As you can see we just celebrated Jacob's 3rd birthday and I wanted to write down some things we especially LOVE about our sweet boy Jacob! In only 3 very quick years he has won over our hearts and added so much excitement and love to our lives. Jacob pretty much adores his older sister Sarah and will go and do whatever she wishes of him. He gladly (well, most of the time) gives up toys to her and just wants to play with her. They spend most of the day running around in circles (in their underwear) making up games and laughing, then crying, then laughing again. :) They are best friends. I was so worried when I had him that I wouldn't get the same one-on-one time that I had with Sarah, but nothing compares to the friendship they have and I could never have made him laugh so much as Sarah does.
He definitely had a "Terrible Twos" but not in the "throw a tantrum" meaning. He is pretty obedient and goes to nap, bed and timeout as told. But he is KING of making MESSES!!! He'll get up while everyone is still asleep, pull a chair over to the pantry, and get out all sorts of food. He can sniff out the sweets. He has an eye for candy. He can just see a wrapper and know he wants some. :) I put things on top of the fridge thinking they are safe...only to find all the wrappers the next morning behind the recliner. He loves dumping boxes of cereal and spreading it all over the floor...like he's having a party or something. We've lost boxes of graham crackers, gold fish, fruit loops, today it was Honey bunches of oats, and pretty much all our bread. If I even turn my back I've lost a whole loaf and I'll be spending an hour vacuuming it up from everywhere. Just tonight as Sean was using a dust buster on his sheets, I said, "Not everyone gets to vacuum their sheets as a daily ritual!" :) I guess I should be grateful that these are the frustrations we have from our son. We get upset, but he's just so cute in all his mess!
He loves to sing. At church he watches our mouths closely so he can know what words to sing and sings loudly. How do you tell a 2 year old not to sing so loudly? He is singing his little heart out! He is all boy and loves BALLS! He loves throwing them and today something went flying and hit the glass in my china cabinet...I almost passed out waiting for the glass to break...luckily it didn't, but I won't hold my breath too long. He loves to tell you when he sees an airplane, a horse, a cow, or a truck, or will say, "Heard that?" He loves to sit in my lap and watch morning cartoons and read books. We all snuggle up in our blankies. I love having nothing to do but play with my kids. The other day we all sat on Sarah's top bunk bed and just "rested" and ate smarties for like an hour. The house is never clean, but these kids will be in school before I know it. How do I hold on to these memories when they still love and adore me? Soon, they may think I'm not cool or something...butI won't worry about that now. I'll just keep kissing thier owies better, reading and playing and trying not to take myself too seriously over the spilled milk. We love you so much Jacob Christopher! You are so fun to watch! I love seeing you learn and discover life. You help me forgive as you quicky forgive me all the time. Thank you son for coming to our home, arms, and hearts.
