off to slay the dragon

i'm off to take the ky bar exam the next to two days. i wish i at least had a wand or a broom like harry potter did when he faced his dragon. oh well, i guess the barbri review course will have to do. wish me luck!

1408 - classic chiller

last weekend, Amber and I went to see 1408.if you all know amber, you should be very surprised that we went to see this movie. i really enjoyed the movie. it keeps you on the edge of your seat and john cusack acting is superb. we actually had our newborn with us and amber made me hold him for most of the movie because she was afraid she would jump while she was holding him. it is very intense and keeps you guessing about how it all will end for Mike Enslin (Cusack). Also, Samuel L. Jackson does a great job in his cameo appearance as the manager of the Dolphin hotel. if you are into "chillers" this one is for you. you'll never feel the same about a hotel room again! 3 1/2 out 4 stars.

daddy daughter dandies - 7/7

yeah, that's sarah in 7 (maybe more) princess dresses. she truly is royalty and she has an attitude to match it. we should have known what we were getting into when we named her (sarah = princesa). here are a couple of dandies i've had with her recently:

• while baking with her i told her i needed to stir the batter and told her to stop and sat her down off the counter. she responded, "no, you stop!" i then gave her a very soft kick [more of a nudge :) ] and said you don't tell me to stop. she again responded in kind, kicking me back and saying "you don't tell ME to stop!"
• after the 4th of july parade, we let sarah play on the moon bounces and other games. i told sarah it was time to go. she was not very happy. as we we're walking to the car she began hitting me and said, "i'm being mean to you!" and "i'm upset with you!" she wasn't very happy on the trip home either.

i love her very much and can't help but wonder what it will be like during the wonderful teenage years when i'm already experiencing this and she is only 3!

Mommy Moments 7/6

Okay, so when I fall asleep while the kids are awake, I always wake up to fun surprises. Today Sarah

• made kool-aid all on her own... sugar and all, stirred it with a knife, but hey, she was thirsty, and mommy was conked out on the chair
• she emptied out my entire closet "looking for a dress", all my clothes are on the floor
• yesterday she managed to get 7+princess dresses on all at the same time!! (picture coming)
• And Sunday, I wasn't asleep, but was feeding the baby in the mothers lounge and she ran around the church screaming because she couldn't find me. The best part is that she ran through the Single's Branch sacrament meeting, and I was listening to it via speaker and heard the screaming and thought, "wow, somebody's kid is making a scene" and then the speaker said, "that little girl will grow up to have a little girl just like her". I laughed because my parents have always said that to me. Then come to find out, it was my little girl!!! AHH! Of coarse it was Sarah! I should've known! We love her though!

I'm very grateful for the founding fathers of our nation and the blessings that we all enjoy today because of their sacrifices and the sacrifices of many others that have fought to maintain our liberty.

"smack your lips" belgian waffles

inspired by a friend that posts recipes on his blog, i've decided to post recipes to our blog as well. this recipe is one of my wife's favorite meals (not just for breakfast):

Ingredients (Makes 4-6 Waffles):

• 2 cups flour
• 1/4 t salt
• 1/4 t baking powder
• 2 1/2 cups milk
• 2 eggs
• 1 cube butter

Steps:
1) Sift 2 cups flour
2) Add salt and baking powder
3) Separate eggs, add yokes to flour mix.
4) Add milk and blend well.
5) Whip egg whites and fold into batter.
6) Melt butter and add to batter.
7) Use any toppings you like! (We use ice cream, whipped cream, strawberries, chocolate syrup)
